About Me
Wood’s up everybody. I'm Zayin Israel, and for as long as I can remember I’ve been working with wood in one way or another. As a young man I worked on construction sites with my stepdad, as part of his cleaning crew. As a teenager I started working with him on construction jobs throughout the Detroit area. Getting familiar with a tape measure, learning measurements, and how to operate jobsite machinery.
At the time it was just something to do, keeping me out of trouble and also a little money in my pocket. I wasn’t looking at working with wood or construction as a carrier at the time. As I started to get older and pick up more responsibilities, I need a little more income stability. I needed a Reliable income more than just occasionally working with my stepdad. So I got a regular job and hated it, but kept it out of necessity. I was stuck in that rut for years.
One day I picked up a piece of wood and sharp knife and started to carve out the 7-Eleven logo, out of pure boredom. Then I thought to myself if I had a better tool, this would probably go a lot easier. So I bought my first tool, a Dremel, and I was hooked. I bought more wood, and more tools, and my projects got larger and larger, and so did my tool collection.
My hobby eventually turned into a passion. To the point where, I would go to work, and couldn’t focus, thinking of new projects, and better ways of creating them. I realized I loved my hobby with a passion, and remembered how much i didn’t like punching a clock. Not only did I love what I was doing, but friends and relatives loved it too, offering to buy my projects, or make one for them. They would tell me, “you should start a business”, When are you going to Quit that job, and “why are you working for someone else”.
So I dived in, head first, creating not only a business, but an opportunity to teach my children a craft. Also to share our passion and creations with the world. In hopes to inspire others to Dream Plan and Create something meaningful and beautiful.
